Description

Virginia Bluebells create a stunning blue carpet of flowers in early spring in woodlands and shaded areas. Often found in the floodplains of streams, it prefers a rich, hummus, moist soil. Plants emerge in late winter, bloom in early spring and the whole plant disappears until the next year. Perfect for planting among ferns and other shade loving plants that will fill the area until the next year.

North American Native Plant

Virginia bluebells attract a variety of pollinators, especially early-emerging ones, including long-tongued bees, butterflies, skippers moths, hummingbirds and flies. Their tubular flowers offer rich nectar, vital for these pollinators as they emerge in early spring, with bumblebees being key for cross-pollination due to their size.
