Description

An eastern meadow native that provides weeks of color in mid-summer. Bluish purple flowers top bushy green plants. Found at wood’s edge and in sunny meadows.

Hoary Skullcap prefers partial sun and medium soils. It tolerates soils with loam, clay-loam, and rocky material. It is very hardy and can withstand dry conditions well. North American Native Plant

Scutellaria incana (Downy Skullcap) is a host plant for Skullcap Skeletonizer Moth (Prochoreutis inflatella) and Skullcap Caloptilia Moth (Caloptilia scutellariella), but it primarily serves as a nectar source and pollinator attractor for butterflies and bees
