Description
Baptisia, or False Indigo is a stunning addition to the flower garden. It forms a dwarf version of the straight species so it’s perfect for smaller gardens. It has pale blue flowers that fade to white at the tips in late spring and early summer. It is prized by cut flower growers for its flowers, foliage and large black seedpods.
Baptisia forms a long taproot which makes it drought resistant but also very hard to move so plan accordingly.
Milkweeds are the host plant for the Monarch caterpillar.
